CELTIC SPIRITS
A collection of Celtic melodies with songs that feature
mountain dulcimer and flute, and interspersed with a few
short Celtic-style blessings. This recording features Linda
Brockinton on mountain dulcimer and flute, joined by Lisa
Odena on selected dulcimer duets. The Celtic-style blessings
written and read by Debbie Freeman.
Linda Brockinton - National Mountain
Dulcimer Champion 2001 (Flute, Dulcimer, Irish Lap Harp and
Penny Whistle), being a song writer feels a strong kinship
to composers of old songs. Her favorite music is the old
Celtic, old Hymns and Classical. She feels that by playing
the old songs she can keep the soul of her kindred spirites
alive.
Lisa Odena grew up with a love of folk music. In 1997 Lisa
was the first native Arkansan to win the Southern Regional
Mountain Dulcimer contest in Mountain View, Arkansas. She
plays a in the ensemble, Heartstrings, and with her husband
Scott Odena.
Debbie Freeman is a Presbyterian minister in Little Rock,
AR. After living a year in Scotland, she became very
interest and fascinated by all things Celtic. Besides
writing prayers and poems in the Celtic style, she also
designs Celtic jewelry and provided the art for the cover of
this CD.
