Gary's description of his Prussia Valley Box Dulcimers, "What I am doing by building the box dulcimers is not to replicate the Tennessee Music Box, but to make an inexpensive but good playing mountain dulcimer. I have been making them off and on for 6 or 7 years. I think they are a beautiful instrument, but they are quite a bit less to buy. I do custom build them with ebony overlay on the fretboards, 25 1/2" fret scale, with or without 6 1/2 frets and even chromatic if someone wants one that way. I don't imagine I will get into the TMBs, unless someone really twists my arm.
The Prussia Valley box dulcimer's soundbox is shaped like a rectangular box. I make the back, sides, soundboard and fretboard out of the same materials and the same thicknesses as my regular dulcimers. It has no head, as the strings go down over the end to over the end of the box and I put zither pins in the end for tuning. Friends, Gary"

Basic model start at $135.00.  Please contact Gary for wood choices and with any questions.
